On Jan. 29, 2019, UF will host award-winning singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Chenoweth will be one of 45 artists the Phillips Center will host during 2019.
Brian Jose, the director of UF Performing Arts, said everyone involved in holding the event is very excited about the idea of having Chenoweth on campus in January.
“Having her is a big deal,” Jose said. “She’s someone we’ve wanted to get for a long time.”
Jose said the community’s response to the event has been good so far, and about 400 tickets have already been sold.
Public tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased either online or in-person at the Phillips Center box office. Tickets cost between $45 and $75, depending on where the seats are.
Student tickets will go on sale Dec. 3, and they will cost $10.
Chenoweth began her career in musical theater, making her Broadway debut in 1997. She won a Tony award for her role as Sally Brown in the Broadway musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” in 1999.
In 2003, she starred as Glinda in “Wicked.” This role earned her much more attention and several award nominations.
Since then, she has starred in several popular movies and television series, including “Rio 2,” “The Peanuts Movie,” “Glee,” “BoJack Horseman” and “Pushing Daisies.”
In 2001, Chenoweth released “Let Yourself Go,” which was her first of six solo albums.
Her most recent album, “The Art Of Elegance” was released in 2016, debuting at No. 36 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart.
